Green Mountain National Forest Open – Fall Foliage Festival Planned

RUTLAND, VT. Forest Service officials announced last Friday that the 400,000 acre Green Mountain National Forest (GMNF) had been re-opened except for specific areas that remain posted closed. The GMNF had been officially closed to the public on Thursday, September 1st due to extensive damage from Hurricane Irene.

Ragged Mountain Fat Tire Festival Poster

Mid Coast NEMBA will be hosting the Ragged Mountain Fat Tire Festival this weekend. Adrenaline fueled down hill, lift rides at the snow bowl camping and fat tire fun to be had over two days.

There will be a film screening at 8pm of Pedal Driven and Life Cycles at the Camden Opera House.

NATIONAL GET OUTDOORS DAY PREPARES FOR Fourth EXCITING YEAR!

Participants from federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and the recreation industry are again teaming up to host the fourth annual National Get Outdoors Day (GO Day) to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun at sites across the nation. On Saturday, June 11, 2011, these diverse partners will offer opportunities for American families to experience traditional and non-traditional types of outdoor activities. Prime goals of the day are reaching currently underserved populations and first-time visitors to public lands, and reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors.
