A Skowhegan man caught a new Maine record rainbow trout last February. It was weighed on a certified scale but he waited until last week to contact state biologists.

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife confirmed that Michael Thebarge caught a 7 lb. rainbow on Lake George in Canaan on Feb. 6, 2009.

The previous 6.5 lb rainbow trout record was caught in the Androscoggin River in 2007.
