Backpack Hiking Trail Tips for Dehydrated Meal Preparation and Storage

Hitting the trail with a backpack for a multi-day hike means carrying lots of food. Two things you don’t want in your backpack when on the trail: water and air.

Water is heavy, so many backpackers will buy dehydrated, packaged food. Some hikers will dehydrate their own food and package it themselves. Dehydrating makes the food lighter and can help preserve it.

Air wastes space and makes your pack unstable. Air can also affect the freshness of your food.

I recently saw this video with some backpacking techniques by scubabbyy on YouTube.
