Fort McClary State Historic Site, Kittery, ME

Fort McClary is a Maine State Park with a historic defensive fortification at Kittery Point near Kittery Maine. The site still contains several remaining buildings, most prominent of these is the hexagonal blockhouse; a small, isolated fort in the form of a single building (wikipedia).

The blockhouse commands spectacular views over the Piscataqua River.

There is a small rocky beach, typical of much of Maine’s coastline, and a short trail through the neighboring woods leading back to the parking lot.
