About Vermont
The "Green Mountain State" is the most rural of the New England states. Many of its residents live in communities of less than 2,500 people. With more than 75 percent of the state's total area covered in forest, it is a great place for outdoor activities.
Vermont has 223 mountains over 2,000 ft. elevation. The highest mountain is Mt. Mansfield at 4,393 ft.
Some of the major rivers are the Missisquoi, Lamoille, Winooski, White, Otter Creek, West and Battenkill.
