Description: The Willoughby Cliffs Natural Area became a National Natural Landmark in 1967.; The area is 950 acres and is part of the Willoughby State Forest. The area includes the cliffs of Mt. Pisgah and Mt. Hor, as well as the forested buffer zone.; The cliffs are known as a spring nesting site for Peregrine Falcons. There are also many examples of endangered species of arctic and cliff-alpine plants.; There are excellent hiking trails that offer great views of Lake Willoughby, Vermonts Deepest lake, and to the White Mountains. There are two trailheads off of Route 5A. The South Trailhead is at a parking area before the lake, on the right coming from the South. The North Trailhead is next to the lake at a roadside parking area. Both parking areas have trail signs. The hiking is Moderately Difficult and steep in places.
